Destination: College is an AmeriCorps program based on the UC Berkeley campus. The program provides tutoring, mentoring, and college advising to Bay Area schools in order to increase academic performance and access to college among low income, educationally disadvantaged students. The 40+ Members of the program are UC Berkeley undergraduates, serving approximately 12-15 hours a week with one of six partner agencies (see useful links; for a list of partners and to link to their web sites). In return Members receive a monthly stipend, an education award upon program completion, and the satisfaction of having a positive impact on young students' lives. The program strives to create a supportive service community for members with an emphasis on futures in education, collective growth and problem solving, and recognizing successes.
